Creators for Democracy is a declaration that democracy's future is being built right now, in our communities, by creators with the courage to tell new stories about who we are and who we can become together.
Creators for Democracy is a national civic initiative connecting creators of all kinds with public libraries and cultural institutions as the civic infrastructure they've always been.
The conditions for democracy are being contested in real time, through disinformation, surveillance, the erosion of trust, and the concentration of power in technology systems that were never designed to serve everyone. The stakes are not abstract. They show up in who gets to participate, who gets protected, and who gets left out.
At the same time, something else is happening: a generation of creators, organizers, and community leaders are building new forms of civic power, often with extraordinary creativity and without nearly enough support. This initiative is inspired by Democracy Well, an initiative to build a network to resource leaders and innovators pouring into our democracy.
In an era where trust in traditional media has collapsed, local creators are civic communicators who foster trust and possibility.
Joy and possibility are required for communities to build the future they deserve. We are a celebration — of the creators already doing the work, the communities already showing up, and the imagination it takes to believe something better is possible and worth building together.

As America marks its 250th anniversary, we're asking: what if we celebrated democracy as a living, evolving practice? What if the most powerful civic infrastructure isn't in Washington's monuments but in the relationships, narratives, and creative vision of everyday people?
"Libraries have always been democracy's infrastructure — free, accessible spaces for learning and community gathering. By embracing digital creators as extensions of this mission, we demonstrate how traditional civic institutions remain essential while evolving to meet communities where they are."Creators for Democracy
"The future of democracy is being written not in marble monuments but in the stories creators tell every day — on TikTok and YouTube, through newsletters and podcasts, across platforms where millions gather to make sense of our shared civic life."Creators for Democracy
This work is made possible through genuine collaboration with civic institutions that share our values.
